Tornado Relief Fundraiser

We are all still in shock after tornadoes ripped through Shawnee and Moore two weeks ago.  Our hearts and prayers have been with the Sooner nation during this difficult time.  I have been amazed by the outpouring of support from around the nation and right here in Colorado.  Stoney’s, the OSU Club and the OU Club are working together to put on a Tornado Relief Fundraiser.  The fundraiser will take place at Stoney’s annual trivia contest on Saturday, June 15 at 2pm.  There will be a $5 cover charge and 100% of the cover will be donated to the tornado relief fund.  Please see the attached flyer with additional information.  We hope to see you there!

Softball Watch Party

The #1 OU Women’s Softball team is playing #9 Tennessee this week for the national championship with game one tonight.  Game two will be tomorrow evening at 6:00pm MST.  For tomorrow’s game we will have a watch party at Stoney’s.  Come cheer on the Sooner women and enjoy great food and drink specials.

Baseball Watch Parties

Also Stoney’s is the place to watch the OU baseball team as they advance in the playoffs.  This weekend is the Super-Regionals against LSU in Baton Rogue, LA.   It’s a best two out of Three series.  Game one is Friday June 7th at 5pm MT (ESPN), Game Two is Saturday June 8th at 5pm MT (ESPN2), Game Three if needed is 5pm MT (ESPN)

If OU makes it to the College World Series we’ll keep you updated.

Scholarship Update

Thank you to everyone that helped with our scholarship committee this year.  We had so many talented submissions this year (more than any other year). It was definitely a challenge naming this year’s recipients.  Our scholarship committee met last month and we narrowed down the list to nine people to award scholarships to as well as one bench scholarship winner.  This year the OU Club along with the university match will be awarding $9000 to incoming and current OU students.  A big thanks to all of you for making this possible through buying memberships and supporting the club this year.

This year was the first year to offer our bench scholarship.  We received a number of creative photos (check out our facebook page for all the submissions), but the winner goes to Sydney Stavinoha for her “Life is like a box of chocolates…You never know what you’re gonna get!” Forest Gump submission.  Congrats, Sydney as well as all the other 2012-2013 scholarship recipients!
