February/March Newsletter

Just about 182 days until college football kickoff, but who is counting?!  We have plenty of activities coming up to help pass the time including our Thunder Night Out and the Future Sooner Reception.  We also have March Madness to look forward to.  OU Men’s Basketball is currently #4 in the Big 12, 18-8 overall and fighting for better tournament seeding, currently projecting a 9 seed.  The next matchup is a Red River battle tonight in Austin at 7pm MST.  Watch this game and all the games at the OU Club home: Stoney’s Bar and Grill.  We will host watch parties for the tournament in March.  The OU Women Basketball team is currently 19-9 and will next take on Kansas on Saturday, March 2^nd at 6pm MST. 

 

OKC Thunder and OU Club of Colorado Night Out and Happy Hour

This Friday, March 1^st the OKC Thunder will be traveling to the Mile High City to play the Denver Nuggets.  Tipoff is at 8:30pm MST.  We have sold 100 club level tickets to the game.  Before the game from 6-8 please join us for a happy hour at Stoney’s new downtown location, Stoney’s Fullsteam Tavern (http://fullsteamtavern.com/).  It is located at 1434 Blake St. on 14^th and Blake, just a short walk from the Pepsi Center.  We have the upstairs room reserved and light appetizers will be provided.  With the help of our generous sponsors Stoney’s, Shiner and Patron, we have also made t-shirts to celebrate the event.  Anyone who purchased a ticket through the OU Club can show their ticket to receive a t-shirt at the happy hour.  We will have the same game day specials including $3 Shiner beers and $5 Patron shots.  Finally, we will have 102.3FM, ESPN Radio Denver there to broadcast our event.  Whether you are cheering for the Thunder or the Nuggets, it should be a lot of fun that you will not want to miss out on! 

 

2013-2014 Scholarship Applications

We are continuing to accept applications for the 2013-2014 scholarships.  You can find the form on our website here: https://ouclubofco.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/scholarship-app-2013-template.pdf. Campus Wide Scholarship 

I am pleased to announce with the help of our scholarship committee and university wide advertising our newest scholarship is starting to take off.  For anyone not familiar with the new scholarship opportunity, we are offering a campus wide scholarship of $2000 eligible to all current OU students.  All you need to do is take a picture by the OU Club of Colorado bench located on campus by the dorms on Lindsay St. Take a picture, get $2000.  Sounds pretty easy right?!  We will post all the pictures on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/ouclubofcolorado) under a folder set up for the scholarship.  Make sure to visit the page and “like” your favorite submission.  The top three pictures with the most “likes” will be taken to the scholarship committee to choose a winner. 

Future Sooner Reception  

103 students and parents from Colorado interested in OU have been invited to our 2^nd annual Future Sooner Reception.  The event will be held Wednesday, March 13^th at 7pm at the University Club in Denver.  If you know someone that is looking at OU and would like to attend the reception, please contact our Colorado Recruiter and Student Services representative, Carissa Cummins at Carissa@ou.edu.
