I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful Colorado summer! College football is just around the corner, 80 days to be exact. As of now, OU is ranked #5 preseason. The OU Club and Stoney’s have been busy getting ready for the upcoming football season. We will have new raffles, door prizes, game day menus and more! Until then, there are still many things going on with the club to update you all on including the 2012-2013 scholarship recipients, Thunder watch parties, our second annual Sooner Sendoff Reception, t-shirt contest and new website!

2012-2013 Scholarship Recipients
Thank you to everyone that applied for the 2012/2013 scholarship. We received more applicants this year than any other year and were blown away by the talent of the students from Colorado that will be the future Sooners. Also a huge thank you to this year’s chair, Haley Wallace for putting so much time into the committee as well as all the amazing members that donated to the club to make it possible for us to give away these scholarships. Because of your generous donations, we were able to award six individuals with partial scholarships totaling $5500 combined with the club and university matching. This year we are pleased to announce the 2012/2013 scholarship winners from Colorado are:

Thunder Finals Watch Party
For all you Thunder fans (which I know there are a lot of you since we sold over 100 tickets for the Thunder/ Nuggets game), Stoney’s is the new home for the Thunder basketball games watch parties. Next season Stoney’s will have the NBA package and will be airing EVERY Thunder game. However with the Thunder in the finals, you do not have to wait until next season to check out a game. Starting for game 1 TONIGHT, go to Stoney’s for $3 Shiner pints with your fellow OKC fans. VJ Aaron from the OU watch parties will be at games playing music and Stoney’s will have giveaways. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

Save the date: Second Annual Sooner Sendoff Reception
Please spread the word and save the date for our second annual Sooner Sendoff Reception. The reception will be held Sunday, July 29, time and location to come. Last summer we had a couple representatives from the university come out to answer questions for students that were about to start OU in the fall, as well students thinking about applying to OU. Not only is this a great way for students and parents to meet university reps, the students have the opportunity to meet other high school students from around the state that will be starting school with them in August. Anyone with kids that is interested in this event, look for upcoming emails from the University’s Student Services office as well as club newsletters.

OU Club T-shirt Contest
We need your help! We are in the process of designing our new t-shirts for the upcoming football seasons and would like your input. We are holding a t-shirt contest. If we choose your design, you will receive a $50 Stoney’s gift card as well as a free OU Club membership for the 2012/2013 year. Please submit designs by July 15 to: ouclubofco@gmail.com
